Certified by ONCRA

After thorough analysis of our operations the OceanPod got a carbon removal certification from ONCRA.

The organisation ONCRA is the world’s first Open Natural Carbon Removal Framework. It operates as a lean and trustworthy certifier for Nature-based Carbon Removal projects. They have a close collaboration with local governments, the European Commission and a wide network of innovative entrepreneurs who sequester carbon with nature-based processes. We also did a Life Cycle Analyses (LCA) and the result from the LCA showed that for every tonne of COe2 we bind in algae we emit 30 kg COe2, that is 3%. This is to be compared to the 50% that biochar emits while being produced. Sweet!

“By performing a ‘doughnut check’ we evaluate if the project operates within the planetary boundaries. Multiple benefits like biodiversity, clean water and meaningful jobs, are examples of how ONCRA removal credits tick many SDGs and result in a holistic approach.” ONCRA
